OK, I think I'm a bit closer now as to why Kanotix automounts USB mass storage devices and Libranet does not, but I need a Libranet 3.0 user to confirm something for me.
Kanotix has a file named /etc/hotplug/usb/usb-storage that seems to be responsible for USB automounting. You can read more about it at http://www.google.com/search?q=%22%2Fetc%2Fhotplug%2Fusb%2Fusb-storage%22+hotplug&btnG=Search I've also attached that file to this email, in case anyone wants to check it out. I think it gets installed with the hotplug package. So here' s my question for the Libranet 3 users: is that file on your system? If it is, what does it look like? When I looked at Debian.org, the hotplug package does NOT include the usb-storage script. After running dpkg --search usb-storage, this is what I found: knx-installer: /usr/share/knoppix-installer/templates/etc/hotplug/usb/usb-storage So it appears that the Kanotix installer is responsible for the usb-storage script. If someone wiser & more experienced than I would look at the script, I would love an answer to this question: would that script work on Libranet? Thanks. Scott -- R.
