Reformatting mkisofs(8), please wait...

       -split-output
Split the output image into several files of
approximately 1 GB. This helps to create DVD sized
iso9660 images on operating systems without large
file support. Cdrecord will concatenate more than
one file into a single track if writing to a DVD.
To make -split-output work, the -o filename option
must be specified. The resulting outout images will
              be named: filename_00,filename_01,filename_02...
Manual page mkisofs(8) line 914/2413 40%

cdrecord (base utility of things like Grip and K3b) handles this just fine.

You might want to check out this page:
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/ Get the dvd+rw tools which
contains the mighty "growisofs" program.

You might check out dvdauthor for Linux
http://dvdauthor.sourceforge.net/ There are some handy GUI links
there as well.
