       -split-output
Split the output image into several files of
approximately 1 GB. This helps to create DVD sized
iso9660 images on operating systems without large
file support. Cdrecord will concatenate more than
one file into a single track if writing to a DVD.
To make -split-output work, the -o filename option
must be specified. The resulting outout images will
              be named: filename_00,filename_01,filename_02...

That seems more appropriate if I want to create a 2 GB (or larger) ISO on filesystem without large file support.

In this case, I have a filesystem that has large file support. I was just wondering if mkisofs can make ISOs larger than the standard CD size of 700 MB and, if it can, if those ISOs can be burnt to a DVD.

As it turns out mkisofs can make large ISOs (the largest one I made was 5.5 GB) and those ISOs less than 4.7(?) GB can be burnt to DVD.

As for growisofs, I'm not too clear on when I'm supposed to use it. Is it just for burning DVDs?
