Yes. All you need to do is boot into a different runlevel. The
easiest way is to boot, then become root (or login as root), and then
edit /etc/inittab. Look for a line that looks like this:
id:5:initdefault:
Notice the 5. That means boot into runlevel 5 which is the GUI (X11)
runlevel. Change the 5 to a 3, like so:
id:3:initdefault:
This means boot into runlevel 3 which is the same as runlevel 5 but
without the GUI (X11).
The meetings you guys meet, is it any other than weekends. I have a
wife and kid and well its kinda difficult to find time at the weekend.
The CWE-LUG meets on the weekends because of historical reasons and
also because that's when other groups don't. MOSLUG, StLLUG, SLUUG,
SILUG, SLACC, AdvLUG, HWLUG, and just about every other group meets
during weekday evenings. However, that doesn't mean that we can't e-
mail the list and say "I've got this issue. Can anyone meet me and
help me out with it?" When that happens we tend to go to a Bread Co.
since they have food and wireless 'Net. Also, most of us are
familiar with IRC or IM, which is another great way to get quick
help, especially late at night or for quick questions during the day.
If you have something you want to work on just e-mail your request to
the list.
BTW, at yesterday's meeting Scott talked about podcasting. Perhaps
in the near future we might podcast the cwelug meetings ... edited,
of course. ;)
