I am installing the Xorg server and need some help with the specs for my Dell laptop CPi R400GT. I don't want to burn-out my screen. It has a TFT screen with Aspect Ratio 4:3, XGA, APG, Horiz angle 40, vert angle +20/-30, max resolution 1024x768from the Dell site how can I convert the angles to frequencies or is the a site that might have the right specs. FreeBSD 6.0 My doc says; tune the xorg.conf.new : These are usually expressed as a horizontal and vertical synchronization rate. These values are added to the xorg.conf.new file under the "Monitor" section: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "Monitor Model" HorizSync 30-107 VertRefresh 48-120 EndSection The values in my Xorg.conf are: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "Monitor Model" EndSection The man pape has the entries as frequencies for the system's monitor: HorizSync horizsync-range: This information should be available in the monitor's handbook. If this entry is omitted, a default range of 28-33kHz is used. VertRefresh vertrefresh-range: This information should be available in the monitor's handbook. If this entry is omitted, a default range of 43-72Hz is used. But Dell gives them as Angles in the following: Video Video type 256-bit hardware-accelerated Data bus AGP Video controller NeoMagic MagicMedia 256ZX Video memory 4.0 MB -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14.1-Inch Display Type active-matrix color (TFT) Maximum resolution/colors 1024 x 768 pixels; 24-bit color Response time (typical) 50 ms Operating angle 0 (closed) to 180 Viewing angles: Horizontal 40 Vertical +20/?30 Dot pitch 0.28 mm Thanks, Cecil
