Way too fast- there should be a cli option to alter it or use Disk 
Utility.app directly.

There is a utility called Disk First Aid which will enumerate the 
volumes. If the CD doesn't show up on the desktop, then it certainly 
doesn't recognize it. Try a slower burn. Also, I wouldn't recommend 
trying to run Xwindows on there without more RAM.
