I've been using Google Docs here for my masters program to collaborate with group members on a paper. It's pretty nice and keeps track of who did what and when, allowing you to roll back at any point in time. My only complaint is the formatting is a bit flaky. Also has the ability to upload docs via a special cryptic email address assigned to your account.
