IMHO, if you own a 64-bit capable box, to get your money's worth,
install a 64-bit OS regardless of the amount of memory install (or
the amount of additional memory you plan to install.)  64-bit
Ubuntu is now very well supported.  It seems to me that if someone
is only going to have a 32-bit OS installed (with 4 GBs or less of RAM),
might as well not waste the extra money on a 64-bit capable processor. 
The machine you mentioned just begs for a 64-bit OS.

I know I will probably get tarred, feathered, drawn, and quartered by the
group for this.  It seems that the consensus of the group is that since
32-bit is better supported and more stable, only install 64-bit if you will
have more than 4 GB of physical RAM installed.

Oh well, that's my 2 cents.  I am merely a hobbyist and have been using
linux for just less then a year.
