Noticed that, too.  Don't have an explanation for why.

Thanks.  I'll try pitivi.

I tried converting from ogg to avi with ffmpeg, editing with Avidemux,
and then converting back to ogg.  It worked, but the quality suffered.

Indeed.  My hope for now is to just figure out one way that works and
then get it working better over time.
