Hi all, Hubby has procrastinated on backing up his system and upgrading it (thus still on Hardy) ...
A few weeks back he mentioned that Firefox has lost the ability to show history -- you can go back and forth while browsing, but the Library's "Show All History" is just blank. This morning, when he went to check emails, he said Evolution lost the contents of "junk" (no loss imho) and "inbox" (ok, so maybe that one is a loss, as he's one of those folk who keep hundreds of messages in his inbox). I fired up Wireshark, and Evolution will pass on SMTP requests but not POP. Just nothing happens when trying to send. Take a peek at .evolution/mail/local and you can see he still has metadata for Inbox ... The test messages I sent him are still residing on our ISP's mail server (can log in via web and check that). Thunderbird can retrieve his emails just fine ... but Evolution refuses to play with POP. And Firefox refuses to display History. Anyone have any clues on this? I mean, other than "upgrade" (funny, now he thinks maybe he should back up his stuff and upgrade) ... But, does anyone have any good suggestions for how to troubleshoot this? I did try "mark for reinstallation" of everything Evolution-related in Synaptec, but that didn't appear to change anything.
