I was surprised -- I tried downloading it from the US around 7am this morning, and had no problems at all (64-bit version).
Installed it in a virtual box, the install started at 8:26am, was completed by 8:34am, and I had the Virtual Box Guest Additions installed, and the system fully operational, by 8:37am. NOTE: you no longer need to do any software installations before installing the Guest Additions (used to be, you had to install at least build-essentials first). But by then, it was close to 9:00am, and when I tried to install other software apps, it was slooooooooooow (as in, Ubuntu restricted extras started installing at 8:48, finished at 9:27). So I just shut it down for now, and will dink with it more later.
