Okay, I broke down and tried it. Works great. Called a friend sitting near me, and while my computer has built in video it apparently doesn't have an internal microphone. I could hear everything he said real time, but he could hear nothing I said--just static.
So I guess I need to invest in a microphone to make it work for me.
