Ah! Thanks guys! I've got it working now. The generic side is the top side, the
detail side is the underside. As long as the piece is 'owned' by a player, only
the top side is visible to the other player. Once the unit comes into 'sight',
they release ownership, and flip it over, and the flipped side is then visible
to the other player. If a counter becomes 'hidden' again at some point, the
player simply flips it back to the front, and takes ownership of it again, and
the detail side is hidden once more from the other player. Works great!
