here a quick and dirty trick.... :-)...

try and think of every .au domain you've ever gone to.. .(which must be a
few).

open up a msdos window or shell prompt or what ever...

and type

tracert www.ozzydomain.au for example...

you'll get a list the path it takes to get to destination... check out
all the domain names on the way, see if they are ISP's....or backbone
providers...call each one, see what they can offer you in yout town.

from that you can probably find ISP's in your area/district/country...
at least the ones that do hosting....

another way of doing it have a talk to the techies (be friendly) at the
telstra pop
(not the mangement droids), they will be able to tell you what other
ISP's have thier pop's there.

else.....

try and find all the major routes of fiber and copper in your town, check
where
the roads being dug up for instance, snoop around ask questions..., find out
where the pops are, and who's in them...

They will probably think you are a terrorist trying to blow up the fiber
infrastructure
or trying to distrupt the olymic games..:-)..

but you have a good excuse for finding out this information...:-)...

if somebodies got other 'creative' idea's to find ISP/Backbone
people....then...
throw em in..

Cheers,
Lee

I know that most of you huys seem to be in the UK but
can anyone help with my query.

Does anyone know of the best Australian National ISP
that supplies ISDN, ADSL and Sattelite connection for
the whole of Australia (Apart from Telstra).
