When
it comes to my friend software , even though is good to be cautious, I still
think it would be extreme on my part to check his tools for his design since he
is professional graphic designer working for reputable
company.
I
think your illustration does not fit anyway since responsibility for violating
copyrights fall on person who uses pirated software and owner of computer where
is illegally installed but not on third party.
To use
your illustration: When you take taxi to any destination and police stops the
car because it was stolen , you are not responsible but the driver. They will
not require of you to investigate weather the driver was the rightful owner
before you sit in the car.(and It will be unreasonable to do
so)

When I sad I do not need to pay for design or software needed, I meant that my friend who is already designer has all software needed (I assume he paid for it legally) But to me is of no concern to think of software since he does the job.
I don't think you will go to your web designer to double-check weather he uses registered software or not would you.
Esko you got it wrong this time because he might use what ever means to complete the site finally the website is yours and you are responsible for it. Suppose tomorrow your friend gifts you a car do you double-check whether he owns it ?
Will the police buy your statement that it was of no concern to you if the car was stolen or not?
The same happens with pirated softwares. So just be careful about it because the final user is equally responsible.
MySQL is a linux based database management system somewhat similar to Microsoft SQL Server. People prefer it because Linux/ Unix hosting is cheap and MySQL Server almost free.

- If it is a pirated software, they can ask your service provider to cancel your domain name and in an extreme case file a case against you for piracy They can even remotely disable your application.
- If you think this is only in story books or a BOND movie. Well all major companies use them today, the ecom applications i have designed for some US based companies, this is a default feature.
- using so called "free" software on office LAN will not be a botheration but loading the application on internet can land you in big trouble.
