hello,
i'm [still!] in the planning stages. can you offer advice on staffing?
how many persons, positions and what do they cost? or will i be wearing
those hats? :)
specifically the cafe manager, who will need restaurant experience as
well as tech-know [right?].

also, how and where do/did you find financing - start up, etc?
thanks a bunch.

For staffing, decide the hours that you will be open and then make
up a schedule to cover those hours for one week. This will help you
figure out how many full and part time employees that you will need.
Next, take this schedule to your payroll accountant ( I use my tax
accountant ) and ask them to give you the cost to for those employees
with all state, federal taxes and all other deductions that may apply.

For financing call the small business administration, your bank,
friends,
family, people who will pay you to go away, the angel network, max out
your credit cards........ be really creative. I've even talked to a
roaster about
trading beans for a small number of shares in my company. See if there
is
an economic development counsil in your area. Start with the bank that
has
your personal account. When I talked to mine, they talked for half an
hour
telling me about all the resources in my area that I could use in
conjunction
with a loan from them. Remember..... they want to loan their money to a
business in the comunity. Also, most banks have a business plan kit that

is free and will help you get a loan by making it sound like you know
what
you are talking about.

Good luck and lots of fun!
