>Judge H Lon Harper, in Houston, Texas, pulled out two single-action Colt
revolvers from under his robes and set them down on the bench next to his
gavel, hammer and law books.
"Almost all the judges carry guns. I just should have just kept mine under
the robe instead of outside of it with a screwdriver," Harper said.
"I guess I won't do any more handgun repair on the bench."<
I used to clean my pistols at work during lunch time, the day after shooting
at Bisley, before returning them to the armoury of my local club. My work
colleagues got used to the sight of beakers of empties in soapy water
buzzing away in the ultrasonic baths, and trays of them drying in the drying
ovens.
One lunch time, I was cheerfully scrubbing out my 6" S&W Mod 19, and my P 08
was in bits all over my desk on a pale blue towel roll, and the head of the
research centre walked through the lab with a herd of suited visitors,
walked past my desk, glanced at it as if it was a normal occurrance, said
"Hello Tim", and strolled on casually conducting his tour party through the
labs...
I don't know what his visitors made of it, but I never had any bother about
it - I guess it was "normal" then.....
Tim : )
