After coming back from South Africa, along with noting the awesome R.S.A. crime figures and sheer amount of violence that RSA police daily face, I was shattered to realise that the most heavily armed cops that I've seen anywhere in the world were Brits in Heathrow! The sight of the MP5s alarmed everyone, who was used to foreign cops with pistols, and no bulletproof vests normally. Why do UK cops have to put on such a heavy show? Experienced foreign cops don't carry SMGs too often, why do ours? -- Edward Beck -- They're not SMGs, that's the whole point, but everyone thinks they are. They are used for the same purposes as a pistol, my view therefore is that they should use pistols!
