It's been the experience at the Wrexham RPC that younger
shooters enjoy the steel plate events, and they provide
a fun entry into more 'serious' events such as Bianchi
and 1500. They organise 2 of the UK's biggest such comps,
the 'Wrexham Steel Challenge' and the '3 Gun Challenge',
both held at Minsterley ranges (late July and Easter
weekend respectively). If you didn't go this year, try to
go next year. It's worth the journey.
This Chistlehurst event was inspired by the Wrexham one.
There was a write-up of the first one in a magazine some
time back. Again, much was made of how in was good for
introducing young members to shooting/competitions.
So much for encouraging beginners, then.

I like steel plate shooting, especially man v. man, it's
tricky to do on some indoor ranges though, the bullets zip
all over the place after they hit the plate.
