The family of Olympic gold medal winner Richard Faulds
are locked in a planning battle with neighbours who have
objected to a clay pigeon shooting range at their farm,
it emerged today.
Neighbours near the Faulds' farm in Longparish, near
Andover, Hants, have launched a High Court legal challenge
to the range being given planning permission as they claim
it is too noisy.
But Richard now hopes his victory in the Men's Double
Trap event in Sydney will win over the objectors.

If Richard Faulds thinks that his Olympic win will pacify his
neighbours, he is incredibly stupid and his continuing "nuisance" to
them will do our sport untold damage by presenting us all as a bunch of
non-caring, brainless gits that should be banned.
I am a very keen target shooter and I spend most of my time thinking
about it, planning it, reloading and shooting, but I would not want to
live anywhere within earshot of Bisley, or any other range. There are
times when I want to sit in my garden with cup of coffee, reading, doing
the crossword or just dozing and I do not want to be disturbed by any
noise.
Hunting belongs in the country, but target shooting (which is what this
is) must be practised well away from the public. Just as we have the
right to love our sport, they also have the right to be
disinterested!!!!
Daily Mail reports today that his neighbours have won the court battle
to silence Faulds. What a pity that it had to go that far and that he
did not have enough consideration for his neighbours to stop this
nuisance himself.
His Olympic win is a veritable achievement, but apart from that he is
the best ambassador for the antis that they could hope for and a best
proof yet that some of the top sportsmen are just very determined
exhibitionists who cannot see further than their noses!
Alex.

Got to strongly disagree with you Alex, if he took notice of his
neighbours he wouldn't have that Gold medal. This is an urbanised
country, the fact that the rest of the village are blaming it on
"townies" indicates that it is not a universal view among the
villagers. Where are we supposed to put ranges? There is nowhere
else. People always moan about the noise, there's not that much
that can be done about it.
Steve.
