Urban legend ? - you decide .......

A young friend of mine had occasion to visit the capital last
week at the height of the petrol crisis. On reaching the
outskirts of London, she wasn't surprised to find that the city
was totally gridlocked, with the usual heavy traffic being
compounded by queues for petrol.

Noticing one of our gallant 'boys in blue' going up and down
the lines of cars, she enquired what the hold up was for - rush
hour or petrol.

He replied that Tony Blur had gone wappy and was in Parliament
Square threatening to set fire to himself if the blockades
weren't dispersed. He - Plod - had been given the job of
collecting support for Blur and his cronies in an effort to
dissuade him from his drastic course of action.

"How much have you managed to get so far ?", she enquired.

"Not bad really", Plod replied, "300 gallons so far, but people
are still siphoning ............"
