From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] EX-SOLDIER `EXECUTED' IN NIGHTCLUB, COURT TOLD 051450 OCT 10 By Damien Brook, PA News Two men today went on trial accused of the "execution" of a former soldier they blamed for the murder of a friend. Shane Heskey and James Goodman are alleged to have shot ex-squaddie Jason Hill in the back of the head from inches away in the early hours of last Christmas Day. The bullet went through his head before exiting and hitting another man, Carlton Mills, in the stomach. The shooting took place in Leicester nightclub, The Eden. Heskey and Goodman both deny murder, and Goodman also denies the attempted murder of Mr Mills. Anthony Barker QC, prosecuting, told Nottingham Crown Court that Heskey and Goodman believed Mr Hill had murdered their friend Eugene Hind in 1995. Mr Hill was acquitted of the offence in 1996 but, the prosecution said, it was generally believed in Leicester that he had been responsible. "We say this was a joint enterprise in which the defendants had planned what to do and did it," said Mr Barker. "Mr Hill was at the club and was being aggressive, arguing and shouting, but that of course is no justification for killing someone." He said Heskey, 28, of Filbert Street East, Leicester, and Goodman, 23, of no fixed abode, had seen Mr Hill at the club and had left to collect a gun each. When they returned, said Mr Barker, Goodman shot Mr Hill while Heskey was seen struggling with another man over the second gun nearby. After the shooting Heskey and Goodman walked away from the club but were followed by the injured man, Mr Mills. It is alleged Heskey took both guns away and neither have ever been recovered.
