Oh Steve, where have you been? Take a look at some of the pre-charged
pneumatic air rifles that have been developed over the past decade let alone
twenty years, mostly by British companies! Entry level kit such as the
Falcon 19SB is on sale for less than two hundred and fifty quid, an eight
shot bolt action repeater version of the same gun for just over three
hundred ( a lot less than the target rated stuff) and most airgun clubs will
have one or two club guns of this type as well as many members who would be
welcome to let potential newcomers to the sport have a go with their own
personal kit .(some of which can be very expensive I agree) The point is
that it could be done a lot more if more firearms clubs took the airgun
disciplines a bit more seriously and used their potential for recruitment.
Check out the most popular stand at any gun show or game fair and it's
almost invariably the 'have-a-go' airgun range. It seems to me we are
missing out on some very good potential here.

Like I said, what I know about air rifles is virtually zip!
Steve.
