Steve, from my talks with possible "newcomers" they are concerned as to
what they can and cannot do on a days shooting, as are the clubs !!
Seems the belief is that the law says they can't use guns, except in very
limited cases, nominated guest days etc etc
Rather that collect the hundreds of pages on the F/Arm acts can you list out
the status, ages, requirements, limitations and lawful parameters for, say,
1) airgun shoots
2) 22 miniature rifle range
3) 22 on regular rifle ranges
4) full bore on regular rifle ranges
the idea being almost a check list, to show clearly what needs to be done by
the club, shooters and visitors. Guess the HASC new controls will confuse
matters even more as they bringing in age levels etc
Its OK for you and a number of the other very well versed subscribers to
this site, you guys understand the law better than the average bobby. The
law is spread over dozens of acts, and perhaps deliberately so (adds to
confusion worry of shooters if they not got simplified info)
But you are right, a notice on the board at work will get attention (all
sorts of), arm the guy putting it up with the facts about the shooting law
on range, and he will be able to dispel concerns and get people along.
Sorry for the workloading !!

1) Anyone who isn't prohibited under Section 21
2) Anyone who isn't prohibited under Section 21
3) Anyone who isn't prohibited under Section 21 and is attending on
a notified guest day, said person's details having been given to the
police at least 48 hours prior.
4) ditto (3)
There are the age limits to worry about as well but I assume we're
still on the "getting people from work to go" side of things.
Steve.
