From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 22/07 (02:48) HEATH POLICE IN SHRUBS PROBE By Paul Bull, PA News Three police officers were today being investigated following an incident after a function at the home of former prime minister Sir Edward Heath. Wiltshire Police are preparing to hand a file to the Crown Prosecution Service and are carrying out an internal inquiry. A sergeant and two constables, who are all qualified to carry firearms, have been withdrawn from their usual positions and assigned to other duties while the investigation continues. The alleged incident occurred when shrubs were damaged at a garden in Boscombe, near Amesbury, Wilts. Exact details have not been released but police confirmed that the three officers under investigation had been to a function at the home of Sir Edward - who lives in Salisbury - earlier in the evening. A police spokesman said: "At the time of the incident the officers were off duty. Their firearms permits have been withdrawn and they have been assigned to other duties. "They have fully co-operated with the inquiry." The investigation will be handed over to police in another county. Wiltshire Police are currently not giving any more details. Today Sir Edward said he had no knowledge of the incident which prompted the investigation. "Every two years, I give a small party for the protection people here, their wives and girlfriends. The wives and girlfriends like to see the house and pictures," said Sir Edward. "This one was on Tuesday July 4, it started at 6.30pm and was over by 8pm. They had wine and soft drinks plus biscuits." Several senior officers from the Wiltshire force were also present. Sir Edward added: "I shook hands with them all when they left.
