A more rational explanation would be that if germany had succeeded in invading Britain, the Royals and some members of Parliament would have been evacuated to form a government in exile, just as Queen Wilhemina was evacuated from Holland. So I stand by my statement, they DID take their chances with everyone else. Possibly it takes someone looking in from the outside to see this, since royal bashing seems to be a growing sport in the U.K. -- Although I suppose it could be argued having a destroyer at their disposal gave them more chance than most people!
