Bob,

Yes they were evil, but as long as the public see the
potential for a licensed gun owner to do a "Ryan /
Hamilton" then why should they think favourably towards
shooters?

The objective is to show the public that neither of
these people should have been allowed guns if the
existing laws had been applied by the police; viz.
incomplete probationer with no actual club membership
(how do you show "reason"?), and other, the police
detective sent to do review for FAC renewal, wrote
against the renewal, over-ruled by Chief Constable (now
resigned on GOOD Pension).

No-one is suggesting adding restrictions, but you will
never get public opinion on shooting side if we do not
continue to exposure the failure of the POLICE in their
(non)application of the existing laws.

If this failure was publicly acknowledged, and as the
public already see the open criminal use and availability
of all sorts of guns, then it would seem inconceivable
that you would go through all the sh*t to get a FAC, and
then shoot people, when you can just buy an illegal gun.

Anyone in the UK would now accept its easier to get an
illegal gun and use that, rather then apply for a FAC.
Another advantage to a criminal purchase is that the
police would not have 3 spare photos of you to issue
to the police snipers!! (For the Watchers,, you send
in 4 photos to get your Licence, on which there is one
photo, 3 other photos unknown use).

The Laws to get Licensed for firearms / shotguns are
such a major hurdle, no person would undergo the rigours,
when such easy options (East End pubs, Gun-Chester,
Liverpool, Leeds and now Nottingham) exist.

The problem is with the whole Hungerford thing is the
lack of proof of what the police did or did not do.

I criticised TVP on the BBC programme I was taped for,
TVP threatened to sue the BBC if they aired the comment,
saying they had withdrawn the comment that was made by
their PR officer after the shootings (which I quoted).
Sadly the BBC legal dept. phoned them up!

You can't criticise when you don't know for certain
what happened. Even the victims' families have been
kept in the dark by TVP, according to Tony Hill.

Without a public inquiry or some sort of investigation
we will never know all the facts.

Steve.
