Our police are moving more to CCTV as a solution to crime,,, they have been
given laws to access all computer emails,,,, the secret service hack into
the American "Carnivore" (based in UK) auto internet key-word search system
(don't put "bomb" into an email - it gets copied and read by the "faceless
ones"),,,, the Traffic Master blue cameras you see along all the roads in
the UK follow your every car mile (they digitally photo your number plate -
hold it on their computer - next time your plate turns up the computer
works out your average speed and passes that to all of their paying
subscribers as an indicator of traffic delays etc),,, every time your mobile
phone moves from one radio mast to another it is logged - tracked and
timed,,, every time you use a credit card,,, all the Government databases
are cross-linked to assist in learning about you (private ones following??)
All this to _solve_ crime
So how come these Animal Lib. bombers can get away with it, year on year on
year??
Maybe that proves that these "new" "distant" policing methods don't REALLY
stop crime, they just possibly catch the stupid criminals?

You're assuming (a) all this stuff actually works and (b) that it
would stop a nutter. Look at how long it took them to catch the
Unabomber.
What about the guy who was sending fake letter bombs to the Labour
Party because he was angry about the handgun ban? They only
caught him because he started catapulting BBs through his local
councillor's window so the local bobby went around to investigate.
The amount of money that was spent on the police investigation
to try and find him and setting up a filtering process for their
post was staggering.
