Please consider that these people are not a "joke". They know the facts, and
they know the truth. What they desire is to reduce you to a helpless serfdom
because they truly believe it is the "right thing to do". They don't believe
in the things you believe in, like personal responsibility and freedom. They
believe you must be "managed", and "controlled", by people much more
"enlightened" than yourselves, i.e. themselves.
This truth is the reason that arguing with these people gets you nowhere.
They are pursuing power over you, and frankly they don't care if you are
worse off. So what if disarming you makes you more vulnerable to crime? They
are disarming you for the purpose of rebalancing your relationship with them,
not (despite what they may say) for the purpose of improving your position
vis a vis criminals.
