GSDF col. fired, 2 generals punished over shooting
cover-up
.c Kyodo News Service
TOKYO, April 27 (Kyodo) - The Defense Agency dismissed
a colonel . . .
...
When first questioned by the brigade, Hideshima strongly
denied letting civilian friends fire a GSDF rifle and machine
gun, and his subordinates who witnessed the shooting kept
silent on the incident, in line with an order from Hideshima,
the report said.
The colonel and the three civilians were arrested only after
the media publicized the case in January this year.

What a bunch of meadow muffins.
So, shooting a full auto rifle is a real crime in Japan?
Therefore those who made this law must be real
winners. If a soldier can, in the process of learning to defend
his nation, use of those dread devices, what does that make
him? If I read this right, the matter is rife with _extreme_
inconsistency. You can learn to shoot a full auto in the defence
of your nation, yet be stuffed in jail if you do it in mufti, or as
a civilian. Huh?
No one said you had to have a brain to lead; apparently
having a brain while having its container stuffed firmly where the
sun don't shine is okay.

There have been similar cases here of soldiers getting into trouble
for allowing civilians to use service weapons.
