Perhaps he is referring to the SUIT sights often issued with
the SLR or the SUSAT issued with the SA80/L95A1?

The reason for the G3's trigger pull is quite simple, the
specification for the rifle mandated it should be dropped
(with the manual safety catch off) from a set height and not
fire of its own accord.  A laudible aim you might think only
some comedian set the height as about as high as the room of
the average house (I forget the exact specification in metres).

The SUIT sight was bloody awful, IMO, the post came downward
and obscured the target.  They changed the post on the SUSAT
to point upward to solve this problem.
