 So though I do not know anything about Glocks, having never owned or
fired one, I have heard all sorts of comments even on this medium. My point
is, I really sympathise with this chap. Luckily the only injury sustained 
is
likely to be brown trousers by his compatriots, but don't rule out the kit. 
It also
happens!

But Terry, this doesn't really apply in this case.  If PC Hooper had done 
everything right the Glock would have discharged into the sand bags 
provided for that very purpose.  Instead, the shot nearly hit one of his 
colleagues in the head. A gun malfunctioning is the only true example of an 
accidental discharge (as opposed to a negligent discharge) and when it does 
occur, the bullet should still impact in a safe place.  If the report is to 
be relied on in any way it would appear that PC Hooper abandoned all his 
safety training for the slightest of reasons.  The Lord alone knows what he 
would have done if someone had shouted Boo!
