180610 JUN 00
By James Lyons, Home Affairs Correspondent, PA News
Gun enthusiasts were today preparing to fight strict
new controls expected to be announced soon by the
Government.
Tougher restrictions on gun use were proposed in a
wide-ranging report from an influential group of MPs
earlier this year.

On which I'd like to comment:
What happens when -
As a result of rising crime committed with
firearms, all privately held firearms are finally outlawed
in the UK?
What happens when -
Crime committed with the outlawed firearms
climbs to overwhelming and unprecedented levels for a
nation previously known for its civility, and causes a
near total breakdown in civil order?
What happens when -
The UK government takes crass and unreserved
action against its citizens who publicly demonstrate against
the rising tide of crime, and the government's inability to do
anything about it, and merely suppresses the press reports
of violence?
What happens when -
In the course of events, people who complain the
loudest simply start to disappear (remember here, you have
already surrendered your firearms)?
What happens when more law results in more crime?
What happens when someone finally understands
that there is a connection between excessive law and excessive
crime?
At some point in your future, there must occur
another Magna Carta between the people and their government,
and not simply between the government and the monarch, the
sooner the better!

--
More law invariably leads to more crime, as there are more laws
to break.
Steve.
