I'm not sure where you've been these last few years my friend but I have
been feeling a bloody great brush tarring me since at least the eighties and
it's getting wider all the time.
The one thing that is guaranteed to bring an end to anymore shooting
disciplines
is an attitude of conciliation.
There is absolutely no point in trying to pander to the various anti-gun
organisations, as reasonable as they may try to sound their intention is to
remove every kind of sporting endeavour involving firearms, including air
weapons, airsoft and
even my sons cap gun. If they could manage it they would have us all on
courses of ECT treatment to obliterate any knowledge of anything shooting
related.
I agree with Steve that Joe Public can more readily sympathise with the
Tony Martins of this world than the UKPSA national squad but if you are
going to
allow people weapons for self defence what could be more "common sense"
than that they
should be trained in their use and prove an ability by regular practice.
Indeed what was the actual starting point for a majority of shooting sports
anyway.
