Courier took gun to drugs dealer
A COURIER delivered a gun and ammunition to a notorious
Northumberland drug baron.
Mark Reith brought the weapon and cartridges in a holdall
to heroin dealer Robert Kelly's headquarters in Delaval Terrace,
Blyth.
Kelly, now serving nine years for drug supply and firearms
possession, planned to use it to enforce his heroin debts,
Newcastle Crown Court heard.
But the weapon was recovered when police moved in to close
down his operation after a surveillance mission.
And Reith had been videod delivering the holdall days
earlier. He told officers he never knew what was inside.
Reith, 25, from Alborough Street, Blyth, was jailed for
12 months after admitting possessing a prohibited gun and
possessing ammunition without a certificate. The sentence will
run concurrently with the three-and-a-half years he is already
serving for attempted robbery.

This reinforces what I was saying yesterday, why risk going
to prison for 7 years over sticking up a Post Office for 200
quid when you can make that in an afternoon selling heroin to
kids, and then pointing a gun at them if they can't pay up when
they're addicted? This is reflected in the crime statistics.
Steve.
