South Wales Police recently recruited 4 licencing officers at
around L14K.
One is actually an active shooter, another a retiring police
officer with considerable shooting experience (not that of the
force firearms team). Seems a lot of forces are 'civilianising'
the firearms licencing function almost entirely.
I'm not sure of my human geography here, but what sort of salary
scale could you expect in Bedford? In South Wales you could get
a pretty high quality candidate for that money, but not around
London where a Secretary can earn that sort of money.
