Firearms Enquiry Officer

(Fixed term contract to end
December 2002)

L15,300 - L16,710 pa plus 12.50/0 shift allowance 
and enhanced rate for weekend working

Based at Force Headquarters but traveling 
throughout the county. 

During the certificate renewal cycle you will be 
carrying out enquiries and site visits in 
connection with applications for certificates 
issued under the Firearms and Explosives Acts 
and other matters relating to firearms 
legislation.

you must have a good standard of written and 
spoken English; some knowledge of firearms, 
their use and firearms legislation with a 
minimum of two years' experience of a licensing 
function, preferably of enquiries for firearms 
licensing or similar specialized licensing 
enquiry work. Good interpersonal skills are 
essential, as is the ability to work unsupervised 
and to organize and prioritize your own 
workload to meet deadlines. you must hold a 
current driving license and be able to pass the 
Police driving test. You will also be sufficiently 
mobile to access all types of premises and be
prepared to work a shift system including some 
weekends.
