Baloney. If a gang of thugs enters your home armed with nothing but their 
fists, use of a gun of some type to stop them would be quite logical. Why do 
you suppose you cannot use a gun against an attacker just because the 
attacker does not have a gun of his own?

You poor Brits really have lost your marbles. No wonder you're in such sad 
shape.

I tend to agree with James, self-defence can never be a proportionate concept
in reality, because by definition it must be non-proportional for one person
to win the confrontation.  This is why the concept of "reasonable force"
was put in the 1967 Act, that is vague.
