What the "strict Belgian weapon laws" actually produce is essentially the
same, differing only in degree, from strict UK laws, or strict Washington DC
laws, or strict Nigerian laws, or strict Chinese laws:

1.  They disarm victims, while encouraging violent criminals.
2.  They divert police resources into counter-productive bureaucracy.
3.  They manufacture criminals out of people who have committed no
anti-social act.
4.  They undermine and eventually destroy sport shooting.

These are clearly very desirable results and those responsible should be
complimented, promoted and given more power.
