If hunting is banned it will set a precedent regarding the underpinning philosophy of the hunter and what is becoming very clear is the way the antis are all pushing for non live quarry pursuits. Read through the submissions and evidence etc for Burns. There is a steady trend in this direction and ironically shooting is more vulnerable as most shooting is shotgun and quarry related and those opposed to shooting deploy two strong attacks, namely 1)killing animls is wrong and 2)guns are too dangerous. With hunting gone the emphasis will move onto game shooting and another tragedy with a gun will bring the full force of both camps onto us. Combine this with the constant cutting away of our community with more regulations etc and you get the picture of what they are doing. This Govt will sell anybody down the river that suits them and spin any story. Talking to councillors and ppc's over the years the there is a clear trend for more antis coming into the parties. We have to make a stand, at the moment we have real critical mass, in a few years time we won't! We mustn't fall into their trap. I was reading the Burns stuff and what struck me is the cyncism of the antis, you can bet that if we don't fight now in a few years they will be saying that because shooting has declined and shoots have to stop proceedings if there are any saboteurs, then the sport is already in decline and job and other impacts will not be much. Read the Burns evidence from the antis and the oral discussions with the antis and replace the word hunting with shooting or even fishing.
