".............but I still find it difficult to accept
equipment faliures. Anyone who uses a Firearm should be
competant in the operation and care of the particular Firearm
he is using so as to know that it is functioning properly. If you
are using a faulty gun any unintended discharges are ND's
NOT AD's........."

I can agree with that to a point...... but all guns are mechanical devices,
and as such are prone to "gremlins"......... before my pistols were stolen
by the government, after firing, they were always stripped, cleaned, and
checked for proper operation, before, and after reassembly.... a throwback
to my military training.....
However, i would still get the occaisional gremlin, like most people, with a
malfunction of some sort... normally in the middle of a speed shoot!.....

The worst instance was my Glock .45, which, in the middle of a Practical
stage, decided it had a burst fire ability.... and stitched a neat row of 5
holes up the target, which was luckily only about 7 yds away...... it
didn't empty the mag... just fired 5, then stopped.......i owned that pistol
for about 2 years, and fired thousands of rounds through it, but that was
the only ever time it did it.....i could never find out why, or make it do
it again....

AD's are possible.....but rare..... ND's, on the other hand, are probable,
given the apparent state of the training given to our "boys in blue"......

Daryll Brownjohn
