Welcome to the world of cycling!! The more you ride the further you'll go and the faster you'll ride if you push yourself. That's where group riding has a huge advantage. You can push yourself when it's your turn at the front and recover at the back without killing yourself.
However, the only way for Bert's idea to work is for all interested riders to show up at the stated times. Rides typically pull out Sat am no later than 7:35. 5 mins is usually allowed if someone's clock or watch is off, especially if they have said they were riding. I'm new to road cycling. I have so far only been averaging 13-15 mph on my rides. I've been doing primarily 15+ mile rides with my longest so far being 30 miles. I'm planning on attempting 40-45 miles tomorrow afternoon. I may would be interested in some slower rides for the time being, but hope I can increase my speed as I ride more.
