Hey, I rode the 50 ml loop of BSG with three others on Saturday. It was
awesome - atleast the scenery was awesome! The roads were - mmmmm -
mountainous. :) The climb near the start of BSG is about 5-7 miles long.
Yeah. Before heading to the mountains this weekend I had a compact crank set
put on my bike. I exhausted all my gears on most climbs. If you haven't
considered a compact crank, it is highly recommended. I would not have thought
of it if it weren't for the advice of friends (thanks Tim). And I would not
have completed our ride without it. The descents were a little hairy for me.
Late in the ride I noticed I was getting a headache from clinching my jaw and
eyes. But, I'm very glad I had the opportunity to go to the mountains (first
time riding there). BSG will be tough, no doubt, but the apprehension is a
little less now that I've seen some of the course and survived it. I'm
definately hitting the hills for the
next couple of months. Tim and John, ready for more hills? kp
