What about COWs doing a ride like this? We clearly have the leadership
and experience for it.

Just another 125 mile ride Saturday with 8 others from Raleigh and our
destination was Black Creek. I don't know why Mike D. made a perm.
route to Black Creek other than it follows bike route #2 from North
Raleigh to Black Creek. I, knowing we had plenty of speedsters Saturday
still decided to ride my single speed bike just to see if I could keep
up. The pace started out very friendly as we kept the whole group
together for the first 50K. We started at 7:30am and it was a balmy 38
degrees. I wore a backpack just to have a place to store cloths as they
came off. After the first 50K the pace picked up to 19/21 were it
stayed for most of the day as we split into two groups. I was dropped
a couple times during a 23+ pace but managed both times to catch back
up. I lost the county line sprint into Wilson County because I was
daydreaming. They come into my house and do that. On the return I just
dropped them all on the lead out and took back those points. That's the
way Thor would have handled it. Great ride with some big hills at the
finish but I still managed to finish with the lead group. I had two
banana milkshakes on the way home. It was a good day!
