Rain, rain and more rain, though about 30 riders still showed up for for this
200K event out of Morrisville. Ride started casual with Geof and I at the back
discussing our upcoming 1200K. We gradually make our way to the front before
the hills kicked in. A couple big hills leaving Jordan Lake left only 10
riders in the lead group with me barely holding on. Finally I dropped back as
well. Too much climbing for the fat guy but I kept them in sight, making up
ground on the downhill's. I rejoined at Snow Camp at mile 50. Now I join up
with Geof, Dayton, Ian, Tom & Mary, and the 6 of us pretty much stay together
out front for the rest of the ride. Not battling a headwind on the return
allows me to stay with'em. Rain ends around mile 75 and the last 50 miles is
perfect! We finished up back in Morrisville with 125 miles at an 18mph average
and over 5,000 feet of climbs. Al, our host treated us with homemade brew!
After waiting for more riders to come in for 30 min. to no avail, our little
group decided to go chow down at a little Mexican restaurant a few blocks away.
A very nice day on the playground!
