Sat schedule doesn't permit joining the group unless it is in the am. Anyway,
headed out solo around 2. No particular "route" in mind but ended up doing the
Buckhorn Tri loop backwards by way of Old Smithfield/Sandy Hill Ch road
(58,ph,bloomery,hcr,osr/nshcr,antioch rd,fower hill, 42,581,old rr,airport - 43
miles). As mentioned in the other ride posts the wind was a monster with
extememly strong gusts. I pedaled right into the mouth of the beast, struggling
to hold 15 at times. If no one has ever noticed, going down Old
Smithfield/Sandy Hill Ch rd toward Buckhorn is basically a long false flat.
Going up the the other side of "Connor Gorge" into the wind and the
surprisingly steep roll on Antioch Rd into the wind for BSG traing for good
measure was the toughest part of the route. Once on Flower Hill Rd, the wind
was off my shoulder or a cross wind depending on the curves in the road which
made the rolls a little easier to attack. Once on 42, the wind predomantly at
my back, the needle stayed well above 20. 581 & Old RR were the same but at
times the wind would gust out of the south feeling like a George Forman left
hook. Great solo ride, average well above 20.
