Kinnie, I love your sense of humor. James and I are the old codgers in our
riding group. We ride mostly with Tim and Susan's breakfast crew, that is,
when we both are not ailing. Your definition of (ns) probably fits most of my
rides now, and sometimes I even have a No Sweat ride. On rare occasions I might
break out for a sandbagging sprint toward the end of our Tuesday or Thursday
evening ride when everyone else allows the old man to show off for 30 seconds.
The anticipation of a bottle of Fat Tire at the end of the ride probably
influences the brief increase in speed. Best
of luck on your next tri event. Squint Eye Pete

  Hi Chris,

That was a little tongue and cheek. (You have to maintain a bit of a sense
of humor with the Cows in addition to your educational mind set - that is also
greatly appreciated.) Just trying to throw in some jocularity. My hobby is
triathlon, yes. And no, there are more roadies with the Cows; possibly more
triathletes with the Rocky Mount cyclists (Rocky Mount is not as organized as
Wilson). For example, a group of 12 or so left DD in Wilson yesterday morn; of
that group there were two tri bikes. (And I don't usually ride on Saturday
mornings. I am a Cows adoptee and usually ride during the day from Red Oak.
However, they are a great group of quality individuals as well as quality
cyclists. However, watch out for Doc who is a sandbagger. [More jocularity
Chris])

The "ns" stands for "nauseatingly slow". This was a term my trainer used to
try and get an obsessively compulsive trainee triathlete (me) to perform a
true recovery ride (the ones you are referring to).

Bob, thanks a LOT for the garmin files! I really appreciate these.
Obviously I could look at a map and plot out a course, but my problem
is that I only know a couple of roads in Wilson: 1. Hwy 264, 2.
Downing Street, 3. Glendale Drive, 4. Tarboro St. So I have no way to
know where the traffic, dogs, poor road conditions are.

Kinnie, please forgive me if I sound stupid when I ask what is an "ns
ride?" I am not familiar with that? Random thought, you are a
triathlete, right? Do you guys have a larger number of tri's as
  opposed to roadies? --
