A herd of seven, Birdman, Kinnie, Lula (Kim B), Bob, Doc, Tim and LR gathered at DD at 2:00 pm for the Sunday afternoon romp through the countryside. Temps in the mid 50s with overcast skies that held no rain for the group together with a persistent wind (yet not what it was last week), set the stage for a solid recovery ride. Rolling out Nash St/58 Birdman lead the group into a cross wind. Across 97 and onto Bend of the River, the group headed into the wind. A short turn on to 97 then on to South Halifax to 301 brought the wind around to the rear and the pace picked up a bit. At our exit off of 301, the group rolled on to Stage Coach Rd to Sharpe Store Rd, through some minor road construction turning on Land St in Elm City. The group rolled on out Main St and onto Lake Wilson Rd. Tim takes the pull half way to the hill and the assault on the hill is setup. Getting caught at the light a Tilighman, Birdman and I were too far back to see who took the honors. Others will have to supply the “play by play”. Back in on Nash St to DD. I showed 37 miles with a 19 avg, those at the front were doubtlessly were faster. Post ride warm beverages and fellowship rounded out the afternoon.
