So I've tried to download from both ftp://sunsite.dk/projects/cygwinportsand
http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/install, and neither has actually worked
for me. I always get the "Download incomplete" message followed by the
setup program terminating. I'd *really* like to get to a point where I
could use KDE and/or GNOME under Cygwin, but I'm finding it almost
impossible to get there. Seems like others have gotten it to work, though,
so I thought I'd ask for a "KDE/Cygwin Setup for Dummies" version of the
procedure.
First let me say that I keep a recent version of Cygwin installed on my work
and home machines. It's basically a full install from the main
distribution. I'm not entirely sure how that's going to intersect with
whatever I do to get KDE/Cygwin going. I've seen various messages about
rebasing DLLs, issues with more recent versions of Cygwin, etc., so I'm not
sure if I should just uninstall my current Cygwin and install the stuff that
comes from the URLs referenced above (if I can ever get those to work) or
what.
Is there already a simple 1..2..3 document on exactly how to do this and
I've missed it? If not, could someone outline in decent detail how to get
it going?
Thanks in advance,
Scott
