Hello, I'm trying to install (and run :-) gnome on cygwin. But whatever I do, I can't get it install... When I do the following, on a "virgin" (no cygwin installed) system:
1. Run Cygwin setup.exe 2. Add ftp://sunsite.dk/projects/cygwinports URL 3. Switch from 'Default' to 'Install' for 'All', thus installing everything.... The install completes, but post-install hangs on gtk2-x11-im-extra.sh (well gtk-query-immodules-2.0 hangs). When I kill the gtk-query- immodules-2.0 process(es), and try to do: 4. Start the X-server: X :0 -clipboard :0 & An X-server can NOT be found..... After which I install x.org from the default cygwin depot. Then I do this: 4a. Start the X-server: X :0 -clipboard :0 & 5. Set the DISPLAY variable: DISPLAY=:0; export DISPLAY 6. Run gnome-session: /usr/bin/gnome-session And this session also hangs..... And the same goes for kdeinit.... How come? Thanks, Edgar. -- \|||/ (o o) Just curious... ----ooO-(_)-Ooo--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
